Archigram 10 Book Launch

Delightful end of a long day after my PhD presentation. Wonderful opportunity for a quick chat with the unmatchable sir Peter Cook

Attending the Archigram 10 book launch felt like stepping into a time warp where past, present, and future architecture collided. A year after The Archigram Opera at Shoreditch Arts Club, the group returned—not to reminisce, but to reignite their rebellious energy and challenge where architecture stands today.

Fifty years since Archigram 9½, this new publication, edited by Sir Peter Cook and published by Circa Press, isn’t just a look back at their revolutionary work—it’s a cheerful provocation. With contributions from Archigram members Dennis Crompton, David Greene, and Michael Webb, alongside contemporary architects and critics, the book feels like a manifesto for keeping architecture experimental, playful, and unpredictable.

Being in a room buzzing with that Archigram energy was something special. Their visionary work—plug-in cities, walking structures, and hyper-adaptable environments—always felt like a distant future. And yet, standing there, flipping through Archigram 10, I could not help but think: their ideas are not just relevant; they might be more urgent than ever.
